Options

  1. Click the Options tab in the Corporate Allocation Rules window.
  2. Specify this information:
    Source Posting

This allows you to specify whether transactions should be posted at the end of the allocation run, or after each sequence within an allocation run. This is important if one allocation step is dependent on the result of a previous step.

    Target Posting

This option applies when target transactions are to be posted to another business unit and determines when these postings are made. Two options are available:

    • Direct - this option posts the target transactions automatically during the allocation run. If an error occurs during the run and the transactions cannot be posted, a message appears on the Allocation Run report and the transactions have to be manually imported to the target business unit using Ledger Import (LIM).
    • Manual - this option stores the target transactions in the Ledger Import file. The transactions must be imported to the business unit using Ledger Import (LIM).

Target postings to the source business unit are made automatically, regardless of the selection made here.

    Update Assets

This determines whether asset details from generated transactions should be passed to the Fixed Assets module. Source transactions are accumulated for every combination of asset code, subcode and marker, as well as currency codes and analysis codes.

Asset details are not posted to source or target offset accounts. For split type allocations, source reversal transactions are generated for each combination of asset details on the source transaction.

    Reverse Sign

If you select this field, the debit/credit marker on all generated transactions will be reversed.

    Posting Detail

This determines the level at which the target and source reversal transactions are posted. Three options are available:

    • Consolidate At Lowest Level - select this option to generate consolidated target allocation and source reversal transactions for the combination of currency and analysis code. This is the default choice.
    • All At Transaction Level - select this option if you want the target and source reversal transactions to be made on a one-to-one basis for each individual source transaction. In other words, you generate both target allocation and source reversal postings at transaction level.
    • Target At Transaction Level - select this option if the target postings to be made on a one-to-one basis for each individual source transaction, whilst the source reversal transactions are to be generated for each combination of currency and analysis code.
    Offset Postings at Txn Level

Select this option if the offset postings are to be made at transaction level, whenever their balancing postings are made at transaction level, otherwise leave this blank.

    Retain Journal Source

This determines whether transactions made at transaction level should retain the journal source of the originating source transactions.

    Retain Journal Type

This determines which transactions, if any, should retain the journal type of the originating source transactions. Three options are available:

    • As Specified On Allocation Definition uses the journal type identified on this form.
    • From Source Except For Source Reversals retains the original journal type for any postings made on a one-to-one basis, excluding source reversals.
    • From Source Transaction retains the original journal type for all transactions.
