Creating Rule Data Presets
You can use Rule Data Presets to preset up to twenty data items during data entry. The preset values apply to a selected code combination within a Rule Data Set.
For example, if you have defined a rule data set that contains the valid account and product code combinations, you could assign a default project code for each combination. Then, when a user enters a ledger entry transaction posting to a valid account/product code combination, the project code can be inserted automatically by a business rule.
In order to enter a Rule Data Preset, you must first create the Rule Data Set (RDS) to define the combination of data that defines the circumstance under which this Preset would be required. In the above example, you would first create a Rule Data Set record with an account code and a product code, then subsequently you would create the Rule Data Preset with the project code.
Once Rule Data Presets have been created, they can be used by the SET command in a Rule Set to insert the value in the appropriate field during data entry.
