Linking analysis codes to an analysis hierarchy
It enables you to link each analysis code, for an analysis dimension, to an analysis hierarchy code. The analysis hierarchy codes must first have been defined for the analysis hierarchy using Analysis Hierarchy.
For example, use this function to assign the sales areas analysis codes defined for the sales area dimension, to the appropriate sales region codes defined for the sales region analysis hierarchy.
Invariably, more than one analysis code is assigned to a particular analysis hierarchy code. For example, to assign the sales area code for each European country to the sales region for Europe. You should ensure you assign all of the analysis codes to the appropriate hierarchy code so that all of the base data is analyzed.
Many different hierarchies can be defined for an analysis dimension. In this case you need to assign the analysis codes for the analysis dimension to a hierarchy code in each different hierarchy. For example, you may wish to analyze sales area codes by commission scheme, in addition to sales region.
You should not link an analysis code into more than one analysis hierarchy code within the same analysis hierarchy or you will 'double' count the transactions referencing the analysis code in reports. For example, you should not assign the UK sales area code to both the UK sales region and the US sales region.
