Setting up Customers (CUS) form - Credit Control tab

If the customer fails the credit limit check or overdue invoice check, you can control the level of warning or restriction that applies to the order entry and release stages in the sales order processing lifecycle. These fields apply to both credit limit checking and overdue invoice checking jointly. That is, none of the fields are specific to either CLC or OIC. The options are:

  • Warn Only - a warning message is displayed if the Credit Limit Check and/or Overdue Invoice Check is failed, but processing can continue for the order line.
  • Warn and Block - a warning message is displayed if the Credit Limit Check and/or Overdue Invoice Check is failed and the line is immediately put onto Credit Hold and Order Hold. Control Desk functionality is used to remove the Credit Hold. The Order Hold can be removed by using the Release Line action on the sales order entry form after the Credit Hold has been removed.
  • No Credit Checking - no Credit Limit Checking or Overdue Invoice Checking is performed.
  • Block Only - if the Credit Limit Check and/or Overdue Invoice Check is failed the line is immediately put onto Credit Hold and Order Hold. No warning message is displayed. Control Desk functionality is used to remove the Credit Hold. The Order Hold is removed by using the Release Line action on the sales order entry form after the Credit Hold has been removed.
  • Not Set - the system looks at the equivalent flag on the Sales Type to find the appropriate action.
Note:  These Credit Checking settings override the settings on the Sales Type and Sales Business Setup. The system checks the settings in the following order: Customer record; Sales Type; Sales Business Setup if Not Set is selected in this field.
  1. Specify this information:
    Credit Check Block - Entry
Specifies what happens when a sales order line fails either the Credit Limit Check and/or the Overdue Invoice Check at the order entry stage.
    Credit Check Block - Release
Specifies what happens when a sales order line fails either the Credit Limit Check and/or the Overdue Invoice Check at the order acknowledgement stage. This also applies when an order line is released after being held, using the release action in the sales order entry at any point regardless of the stage it has reached.
    Credit Block Date
The date the credit block was applied to the customer.
    Credit Block User Id
The user Id of the operator who authorized or set the customer credit block.
    Overdue Invoice Check Disabled
If Overdue Invoice Checking is enabled in the Sales Business Setup it is applied to the whole of the business unit. You can disable it for individual customers, however, by checking this check box.
    Credit Block
Select this option if the customer no longer has any credit facilities. The Credit Block Date and Credit Block User Id are automatically updated on the customer record. When a sales order is entered, no Credit Limit Checking or Overdue Invoice Checking is performed. A warning message is displayed indicating that the customer is on Credit Hold and the sales order line is put on Credit Hold and Order Hold. Control Desk functionality is used to remove the Credit Hold for the line. The Order Hold is removed by using the Release action on the sales order entry form for the line.
    Credit Check
From the Action menu select Credit Check to display the Credit Check Inquiry form.
  2. Save your changes.
