Packing up a business unit to a store business unit group

Packing a business unit or business unit group copies the business unit setup information and database tables from one existing business unit to another, and copies all the domain level data required to run the business unit in another environment.

To pack a business unit from a live business unit group to a store, select the business unit or business unit group to pack in Business Unit Administration (BUA). From the Action menu, select Pack.

A form is displayed requesting the target store and options for packing:

  • Target Business Unit Group
  • Suppress Transactions
  • Reporting Backup Set
  • Comment
  • File Group for Indexes
  • File Group for Tables

Select the options to be packed and click Continue to pack the business unit or business unit group. The target store must be empty, you cannot use an existing target business unit or business unit group.

If the business unit or business unit group you've selected is from a store, a message is displayed confirming store business units cannot be packed. You must select a business unit from a live business unit group.

If the source business units are from different business unit groups a message is displayed confirming you cannot pack business units from different business unit groups. You must select a business unit from a live business unit group.

Once the business unit or business unit group is successfully packed the Action column in Business Unit Administration is updated.
