Business unit administration

Business Unit Administration (BUA) brings together a number of functions to enable a more cohesive approach to the management of business units and the business unit groups that they belong to.
Note: Business Unit Groups should not contain more than 100 Business Units. Exceeding this number could lead to performance issues and impact future upgrade times.

Business Unit Administration returns a list that includes the domain database, the attached business unit groups and business units.

The list is ordered domain first, then alphabetically by business unit group and business unit.

Running Business Unit Administration (BUA)

To open Business Unit Administration, select Business Unit Administration (BUA) from the main SunSystems menu.

The Business Unit Administration form contains these fields:

Business Unit Group
The domain and business unit groups available.
Business Unit Code
The code identifying an existing business unit within the business unit group.
Name

Business units in a store can have the same code as business units in the Live system but are not accessible directly by any SunSystems functions other than Business Unit Administration. Business units in a store can be synchronized with the domain database and once synchronized, the referential integrity of the domain data is maintained.
Packed Store
Similar to a store but also contains a copy of the domain data that is required to re-create the system exactly as it was in its original state.
Note:  The Pack option is the recommended way of preparing data to be sent to another system, for example, for support purposes, or to use a template business unit.
