Using Visibility Fields for Expressions

When you have added sections to the report and added fields to them, you can select whether the item is initially visible, hidden, or whether visibility is dependent on an expression.

To define an expression for a field where you want the value but not the expression that derives the value, to be visible:

  1. Right click on the element in your report (for example a text field) for which you want to add an expression, and select Properties.
  2. In the TextBox Properties dialog, click the Visibility tab.
  3. In the Initial Visibility section of the Visibility tab, select the Expression option which activates the Expression field.
  4. Click the browse button next to the Expression field. This displays the Hidden Expression dialog where you can enter your expression.
  5. From the Hidden Expression dialog, you can enter an expression from the Default tab by clicking the Add Case button to create a new Case tab where you can build the expression then specify a condition for this expression by creating a standard filter.

You can also copy the set of conditions for a particular case to use as the basis of a custom expression.

  6. Save your changes.
