Batches of items
A batch, or consignment, of an item is used when traceability is required through
the Order Fulfilment processes, for example, to ensure perishable items are monitored for
condition.
They can also be used when products need to be recalled.
Item Characteristics can be assigned to the batch for reporting purposes. For example, temperature and size.
A batch is setup with a unique reference number and the item code. That is, the combination of the batch reference and item code is unique. This enables a batch reference number to be used for several items.
Batches can also be used by Receipt Notes processing. This means that if a reference number has been used by Receipt Notes processing, you cannot amend or delete it in the Batch Reference Setup function.
