Checking the Account Balances

As you enter a journal transaction you can use the Account Balances Check facility to see the effect the journal line has on the account you have entered on the current line. It displays the current (opening) balance of the account and the closing balance that would result from posting the current transaction. It also includes any previous transactions for the same account in the journal.

You can view the account balance in either the base currency or the second base or reporting currency, if this is being used.

To display the account balance details in Ledger Entry, select Action > Balances > Account Balance Check and the appropriate command, depending on the currency you want to view.

This produces a display window with this information:

Opening Balance
The current account balance. It does not include unposted transactions.
Transaction Credits
The total of all credits entered in this journal for this account, up to and including the current line. It ignores lines that have been deleted, or are unused.
Transaction Debits
The total of all debits entered in this journal for this account, up to and including the current line. This ignores any lines that have been deleted, or are unused.
Closing Balance
The total of the three previous values and is the account balance that would result from posting the journal.
