Producing a Financial Statement

The following steps are required to design, build and produce a financial statement:

  1. Specify in detail the requirements of your report. Ideally, you should produce an exact draft of the report, identifying each column and line on the report exactly as you want it printed. You should also identify the accounts or selection criteria needed for each detail line of the report.
  2. Use Financial Statement Layouts (FSL) to define the report headings and column requirements, indicate the sort levels, and so on.
  3. Specify the accounts to be included on each row and the subtotals and totals required using Financial Statement Rows (FSR).
  4. Use Financial Statements (FSS) to run the report. You can choose to print the report or store it on disk. If a transfer format has been specified in Financial Statements Layouts (FSL), then a transfer file is also produced.
