Consolidating the Journal Transactions

Each sequence in an allocation run can generate up to four ledger transactions for each source transaction. If the allocation is spreading a value across a number of periods or analysis codes, the number of transactions can be greater still.

Therefore, to reduce the number of transactions, you can choose to consolidate selected transactions.

In the allocation source setup you can choose to consolidate the source reversal and source offset transactions by selected analysis dimensions. Similarly, in the allocation target setup you can choose to consolidate the target and target offset postings by analysis dimension. These options consolidate the postings to the appropriate accounts, if they reference the same analysis codes.

In the allocation setup several posting detail options also allow you to control the level at which the various transactions are generated and posted.
