Setting up Analysis Codes

Analysis Codes (ANC) is used to define or maintain the analysis codes for an analysis dimension. It is these codes that are entered against static or transaction entities and then used to analyze these entities. For example, you may have defined an analysis dimension for Sales Area and want to define analysis codes to identify your Northern and Southern sales areas.

There is no limit to the number of analysis codes you can define for a dimension.

There are two situations where you do not need to define the analysis codes for a dimension:

  • The Validate option on Analysis Dimensions (AND) determines whether or not the analysis codes you enter are validated. If you choose not to validate the codes on input, you do not need to set up any analysis codes for the dimension.
  • The analysis codes for an analysis dimension can be copied from another SunSystems analysis table and the dimension can be linked to that table. If this is the case, you are not able to define analysis codes for the analysis dimension. Instead, you must define any new codes in the linked analysis table. If there are any inconsistencies between the analysis table and an analysis code, you can correct this by selecting the Synchronize or Synchronize All options from the Action menu.
  • Note:  The Synchronize and Synchronize All options are only available if the analysis table is selected for the analysis dimension.
