Analysis Dimensions (AND)

  1. Specify this information:
    Analysis Dimension
This is the name of the analysis dimension and must be entered. It is used to identify the dimension and is the heading on inquiries and reports. It is always held in upper case.
    Status

    Status.

    Analysis Dimension Id
This is a unique id for the dimension assigned by SunSystems for internal use.
    Analysis Code Form
Select an analysis code form to be used in Analysis Codes (ANC) for this analysis dimension. This form must have been defined using Form Designer (FRD). When this analysis dimension is selected in Analysis Codes (ANC), this form is displayed. You must be sure to select a form definition that supports the type of analysis you are defining. For example, if you are using extension fields, to be able to see the reference code list default values in Analysis Codes (ANC), you will need to add the field to the analysis codes form in Form Designer and select this form to be used in this field.
Note:  If you do not select a form, the standard analysis code form ANCOD is automatically selected at run time in Analysis Codes (ANC).
    Description

The full name or description of the data item or record. This is used to identify it on reports and inquiries.

    Lookup Code

    Lookup code.

    Analysis Table Id
If the valid codes for this dimension exist within a nominated SunSystems analysis table, you can select that table to populate this analysis dimension. When you create the analysis dimension, the codes that exist on the chosen table are created as analysis codes for the dimension. Subsequently, whenever a new code is added to the chosen analysis table code, it is also added as a new analysis code for the dimension automatically.
    Linked

The Linked option can only be set if an analysis table has been selected for the analysis dimension. Select this option to copy any subsequent amendments of selected fields on the source analysis table to the analysis codes for this dimension and also reflect any deletions of records on the source table as deletions of the corresponding analysis codes.

Note:  The Linked option can only be set on creation of the dimension. You cannot activate this option after the dimension is created.
    Data Access Group Code

    The data access group code.

    Length
Enter the length of the analysis codes that are defined for this analysis dimension. A code can include a maximum of fifteen characters. However, if all of the codes for a particular dimension are shorter than this you can enter the maximum length here to reduce the number of characters used for this dimension on forms and reports.
    Amend in Account Allocations
Select this option if the analysis codes for this dimension that have been entered on transactions can be altered using Account Allocations (ACA) .
    Validation Method
This determines the level to which the analysis codes for this dimension are to be validated when they are entered. The following options are available:
    • No Validation: You can enter any code for the dimension, regardless of whether or not it has been defined. However, you must enter something for this dimension, that is, if you select this option then you cannot leave the analysis code blank.
    • Validate: Select this option if the analysis codes for this dimension are to be validated when they are entered. The validation applies to analysis codes entered on transactions, and on static data such as accounts. It also applies to transactions imported using Ledger Import (LIM). The codes entered must already be defined, either in Analysis Codes (ANC), or in another static data maintenance function such as Chart of Accounts if the analysis dimension is linked to that function's analysis table (see Analysis Table Id, and Linked options above).
    • No Validation - Allow Blanks: You can enter any code for the dimension, or leave it blank. This option applies only to transactions entered using Ledger Entry (LEN) and Ledger Import (LIM). For all other functions where you can enter analysis codes, blanks are not allowed and this option has the same effect as No Validation.
    • Validation - Allow Blanks: Select this option to ensure that codes in this dimension are validated, but to accept blanks should the code be left blank. This option applies only to transactions entered using Ledger Entry (LEN) and Ledger Import (LIM). For all other functions where you can enter analysis codes, blanks are not allowed and this option has the same effect as Validate.
The default setting for this option is Validate.
