Calculating cache size

The client cache size is calculated using the total memory available on the client machine and the type of software installed. The following examples assume the client machine is a SunSystems dedicated machine.

Example:

For a machine with 128 Megabytes (MB) of RAM the cache size can be set to a value between 10 MB and 80 MB. A typical cache size is 50 MB.

For machines larger than 128 MB the cache size can be set to the following values:

Minimum cache size = 0.10 * (RAM size)

Maximum cache size = 0.60 * (RAM size)

A typical cache size is 0.40 * (RAM size)
