Operating Margin

View the ratio of operating income to revenue as a percentage, showing the remaining profit from core operations after deducting COGS and operating expenses, but before interest and taxes.

The Operating Margin widget is a financial profitability metric that shows the percentage of revenue remaining as operating profit after subtracting the cost of goods sold and operating expenses. The widget shows a line chart in which the horizontal axis represents a time period or analytical dimension and the vertical axis represents the operating margin percentage. You can filter data based on these fields:

  • Period
  • Year
  • Ledger Analysis

Query logic

Operating Margin = Operating Income / Revenue

Operating Income = Revenue – (Cost of Goods Sold + Operating Cost)

The Operating Margin widget retrieves account balances from SunSystems Cloud to calculate the operating income-to-revenue ratio across selected analysis codes and time periods. Revenue, COGS, and operating costs are aggregated based on the configured time frame. The operating margin is calculated for the aggregated data.
