The Gross Profit Margin widget is a financial profitability metric that shows the percentage of revenue that remains after subtracting the cost of goods sold (COGS). The widget shows a line chart in which the horizontal axis represents a time period or analytical dimension and the vertical axis represents the gross profit margin percentage. You can filter data based on these fields:

  • Period
  • Year
  • Ledger Analysis

Query logic

Gross Profit Margin = (Revenue – COGS) / Revenue

The Gross Profit Margin widget retrieves account balances from SunSystems Cloud to calculate the revenue-to-COGS ratio across selected analysis codes and time periods. Revenue and COGS are aggregated based on the configured time frame and grouping dimensions. The gross profit margin is calculated for the aggregated data. For time-based views, the widget derives comparative trends against previous periods.
