Overview of the FEC file
FEC file structure
In the FEC file, a flat, delimited text format is used. Each record ends with a carriage return or line break. Fields within a record are separated by the pipe character (|). All characters must adhere to the ASCII character set.
Submission requirements
A single output file is generated and saved to a specified sub-directory. The file name format is TaxpayerFECYYYYMMDD.txt, in which Taxpayer is the entity defined in the Article L. 47 A and YYYYMMDD is the closing date of the accounting period.
Users must upload the FEC file to the official government website.
Record order
The legislation requires records to follow chronological validation order. Users must sort records by journal validation date and journal name.
For each accounting year, the first entries must show the carry-forward balances from the previous year.
Data coverage
The FEC file must include all accounting data. The first 18 fields are required and they must follow the order that is specified in the French legislation. The remaining required fields apply to specific industries, such as agriculture or non-commercial sectors, and are not included in the standard SunSystems FEC solution.
The FEC solution also supports these optional fields that enhance traceability and compliance:
- Journal line numbers
- Account types
- Accounting periods
- Opening balances flag
- Provisional entries flag
