Creating event profiles

An event profile specifies the conditions under which specific business rules are applied. You must define an event profile before assigning business rules to it using Rule Sets (RST). To define an event profile, access Event Profiles (EVP). After specifying the required information, the condition is displayed in the command list section at the bottom of the form.

Additional conditions can be added by clicking Create and specifying the necessary details. For example, you can add a call point condition to restrict the event profile to a specific stage of the function's processing. When all conditions are specified, exit the form to return to the header form.

After you specify the required conditions, you can define or edit another event profile or exit the function altogether.

Note: You can use the Save As action button to copy an event profile to a new code, which can then be amended as required. Any rule sets that have been defined for the event profile are also copied.
Note: You must click OK or press Enter after each of the following fields to accept the choice you make.
Note: If the event profile is locked, a message is displayed informing you that the event profile is in use. To clear this message, log in as the user who is editing the event profile, and select Clear Amendment in Progress from the action menu.
  1. Specify this information:
    Event Code

Enter a unique code to identify this profile.

    Description

Enter a description for this profile.

    Event Status

Select Suspended if you want to suspend processing of this profile or select Open if the profile is to active. The default is Open.

    Event Period From/To/All

Enter the effective range of accounting periods for this profile, or check the All check box to select all periods. This determines the period of time that the event profile remains valid.

    Event Date From/To/All

Enter the effective range of dates for this profile. To select a specific date, click the drop down box and use the calendar to navigate to the required date. Alternatively, select the All check box to select all dates. This determines the period of time that the event profile remains valid.

  2. Click Detail to display the event profile conditions form.
  3. Click Create to add a condition to the profile.
Note:  The first statement in an event profile must be entered as IF Function Code = and you will not be able to delete this statement. That is, it must identify the system function. For this reason the lookup for the Data Item field for the first statement only contains the Rule Common Fields option, which includes the Function Code data item.
  4. Complete this information:
    Command

Select the IF or OR command. The first statement must be an IF statement.

    Data Item

Select the data item required from the Data Dictionary Lookup window, which lists the valid options available.

    Operator

Enter an operator to be used for this statement. When defining the first condition to identify the system function, only '=' equals to can be selected.

    Data Item or Value

Select the data item from the Data Dictionary Lookup dialog, which lists the valid data item groups or data items available. The list of data items available for selection is determined by the selection you made in the first Data Item field. For example, if you chose Function Code in the first Data Item field, only valid SunSystems function codes are available for selection here.

  5. Save your changes.
