Deleting Journal Lines

You can delete journal lines using Ledger Entry (LEN) at any time before the journal is posted. Once a journal has been posted to the ledger, you cannot delete any journal lines. This is to ensure the integrity of the ledger is maintained.

Note: If you want to remove an entire, unposted, journal you should cancel the journal.

To delete a journal line:

If you haven't clicked OK to add the journal line to the journal, click Cancel.

If you have added the journal line to the journal:

Select Action > Line > Delete to display a selection dialog.
Enter the transaction reference and line number of the journal transaction you want to delete and click OK.
Then confirm your choice to delete the journal line.

Note: The journal line you have deleted is marked as deleted and the line value is removed from the journal totals. However, the journal line remains in the system until the journal is posted or removed. For example, if you place the journal on hold and recall it at a later time, the deleted journal line still appears on the journal input form with a comment on the line deleted alongside the line number.
