Installing Microsoft .NET

Install the latest version of Microsoft .NET. You can download .NET from the Microsoft website. Ensure you comply with the prerequisite Internet Security settings.

Note: The Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 and Microsoft .NET 8 Desktop Runtime Windows x64 are required to upgrade your SunSystems database to the latest version. Once you install the required versions of Microsoft .NET, stop all SunSystems services and use Database Utilities to upgrade SunSystems database.

Complete these steps to install Microsoft .NET.

  1. Apply the required settings in Internet Security Settings:
    Note: This step must be completed before downloading .NET.
    1. Open Windows Control Panel and select Internet Options > Security > Custom Level. Or, run inetcpl.cpl from the Windows Command prompt.
    2. Scroll to Downloads and select Enable in File Download.
    3. Select Enable > Enable .NET Framework setup and click OK.
  2. Install ASP.NET 8 Core Runtime Windows x64. Download it from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-aspnetcore-8.0.10-windows-x64-installer.
  3. Install .NET 8 Desktop Runtime Windows x64. Download it from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-desktop-8.0.10-windows-x64-installer.
  4. Install .NET Runtime Windows x64. Download it from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-8.0.10-windows-x64-installer.
  5. Restart the server if requested.
