Security Audit Policy (SEP)

SunSystems provides an audit trail to record user activity in Security. Use Audit Policy to configure the contents of the audit.

The audit trail includes a number of events that are grouped into audit categories. Specific audit requirements can vary, and it is often necessary to balance auditing and system performance. For these reasons, you can configure your own auditing requirements using Audit Policy.

An auditing event is a record of a user action. For example, you may configure the audit policy to record each time a group is deleted, or each time Security data is exported. The audit trail records the user who committed the event, whether the event was a success or a failure, and the event time and date.

Note: You must be a member of the Security Administrators group to export an audit, and a member of the Storage Administrators group to access the generated log file.

The administrator must be a user who is a member of the Security Administrator group, with Change Security Settings. If you are an administrator without Change Security Settings then you will be able to view but not edit the audit policy.
