Setting up Sales Order Entry - Sales Kit

Sales kit functionality is used in conjunction with Bill of Materials Manager (BOM) which is a SunSystems application for creating an item made up of other items, or components.

In essence, the sales kit functionality is a rapid entry method for sales order lines. If you enter a sales order line for an item with an associated sales kit specified in BOM, the system automatically explodes the kit (to the first level only) and creates a sales order line for each component. More importantly, there is no downstream recognition of the sales kit. For example, the pick, despatch, and invoicing processes all treat the sales order lines as if they had been created independently.

Note:  If the item entered on the sales order contains a bill of materials, a line is automatically generated for each of the component items. You can override the fields on the sales order line if required.

If the item on the sales order contains a bill of materials, the following fields are displayed which show the bill of materials details and are read-only fields.

    Bill of Materials Version
    Description
    Primary Bill of Materials
    Pricing Option
    Bill of Materials Component Id
    Sales Kit Parent User Line Number
    Component Sequence Number
    Base Quantity
    Base Unit of Measure
    Quantity Required
    Component Unit of Measure
    Proportional or Fixed Quantity
  2. Save your changes.
