Journal Types (JNT)

Every group of ledger transactions (journal) you enter into Financials must belong to a journal type. The journal type determines the input and validation rules that apply to the transactions in that journal. Journal types are defined using Journal Types (JNT).
Note: If you have reached this topic from the Journal Types Posting Override form in SunSystems and are already familiar with the Journal Types form, use this link to navigate to the Overriding the Posting Rules for a Journal Type topic.

The Journal Types form contains the following:

  • Header Information
  • General
  • Analysis
  • Automatic Tax
  • Online Allocation
  • Security
  • Supplementary Financials
  • Agency/Broker
  • Unique References
  • Intercompany Type.
Note: You are recommended to exercise caution when changing the settings on your journal types once they are in use. This may cause transactions posted with the same journal type to exhibit different behaviour.
