Setting Continuous Daybook Listing Page Numbers

Daybook Listing can be set up to include continuous page numbering. This means that when you produce a daybook listing, the page numbering continues automatically from the previous daybook listing produced.

Note: These page numbers are only included when you produce a definitive daybook listing. See 'What is the Daybook Listing?' for a definition of a definitive listing.

A transaction reference is required to store the last used page number. The transaction reference uses a number stream to automatically increment the page numbers and determine when the number is reset. The appropriate page number is included on the report by identifying the transaction reference on the document format for the Daybook Listing.

The following steps are required to insert continuous page numbering on Daybook Listing:

  1. Create a number stream to determine the next available page number using Number Streams (NSS).
  2. Create a transaction reference format using Transaction References Setup (TRS) and reference this number stream.
  3. Modify the daybook listing document format to identify the transaction reference format and determine whether or not the user can override the page number at run time. Document formats are updated using Document Format (DFS) and these details are maintained on the Transaction Reference tab.
Note: If you use the reprint option to reprint a definitive Daybook Listing, you may need to reset the next available page number either at run time, if this option is available, or using Number Streams (NSS) to ensure the correct page numbers are reproduced.
