Defining the Transaction Matching Criteria

Transaction Matching (TRM) allocates transactions automatically by matching selected fields on the transactions for an account. For each account, Transaction Matching matches together any debit and credit transactions with the same values.

Note:  Zero value transactions can also be matched.

Selecting the Matching Criteria

You can enter up to three additional matching criteria, and Transaction Matching ensures that the transaction values for these fields are also the same before the transactions are matched. For example, you might want to ensure the same transaction reference is included on the transactions.

The optional matching criteria fields are:

  • Ledger transaction analysis dimension codes 1 to 10
  • Currency code
  • Transaction reference
  • Allocation marker.

For example, if you select ledger analysis code 1, ledger analysis code 2 and currency code as the matching criteria then, in order to match, the debit and credit transactions must have the same:

  • Analysis code values in the first two analysis code fields
  • Transaction currency code
  • Values.

Discount percentages and tolerances can be allowed to try and match transactions where the values are slightly different.

Tax Analysis Dimension

If you are generating settlement discount, the system can calculate the tax portion of the discount amount and post this automatically. In this case, the tax analysis dimension set in Ledger Setup (LES) must be one of your match criteria.
