Creating a return note using generate debit lines

  1. Generate a Purchase Return Note header.
  2. Select a blank line.
  3. From the Action menu select Generate Debit Lines. The Generate Transaction Lines form is displayed.
  4. Enter the required information in the Transaction Type and Transaction Reference fields. Use the Query buttons to find the required transaction details if required.
  5. Enter a line number in the User Line Number field, or click on the Query button to select the required line.
  6. Either use the tab key to move from the User Line Number field, or click on another field using the mouse. The information from the selected transaction line is displayed on the header of the Generate Transaction Lines form.
  7. To select the line for copying to a return note line, click OK and the selected line appears in the line grid.
  8. Continue with steps 4 to 7 until all required lines have been selected. Lines may come from different transactions.
  9. When finished selecting the lines, click Exit to return to the Purchase Return Note form. The lines selected in the Generate Transaction Lines form are copied and entered as return note lines.

    Note:  You can access the details of an existing invoice or order by entering the transaction reference on the Purchase Return Note form and clicking OK. If you modify these details using the Purchase Return Note form, you modify the original invoice or order. You cannot raise a Purchase Return Note in this way. For example, if you amend the quantity, the quantity on the original transaction is amended; a return note is not raised.
