Operational modes

Form Designer (FRD) can operate in three different modes.

The mode is determined by a command line argument within the properties of the shortcut used to launch Form Designer (FRD). The three command line arguments are /mode permissions, /mode normal, or /mode full. Command line arguments within the properties of shortcuts are defined in User Group Menu Designer (UGM). The default is /mode normal.

Permissions Mode

This allows you to only modify the form permission information within Form Permissions Editor (FPE). This can be set for all form types.

Normal Mode

Normal Mode includes the Permissions Mode functionality and allows you to:

  • Display form window information for system forms (but does not allow you to edit them).
  • Copy, rename and then amend system forms.
  • Create new user forms, and manipulate the form window information.
  • Modify existing user forms.
  • Create form help information for both system and user forms.

Full Mode

This mode allows the editing of all forms including system and SASI forms - system level forms not editable in v7? This mode requires separate serialization and is only available to developers.
