Maintaining account details

You can change many of the static details entered for a chart of accounts code at any time using Chart of Accounts (COA). However, some details should be altered with caution.

If you change the transaction analysis options these will not apply retrospectively. This means that the analysis codes entered on any transactions that have already been posted to the account may not conform to the new rules set. If this is a problem you can change the analysis codes on the existing transactions using Account Allocations (ACA), providing you have the authority to do so and the Amend in Account Allocation option has been set for the analysis dimension in Analysis Dimensions (AND).

Note:  If you are updating a debtor/receivables, creditor/payables or client account you may also need to alter the information that is maintained for the corresponding customer or supplier.

The only method of updating the financial balances for an account is by posting journal transactions to the account.
