Configuring a subscriber business unit

Typically, a subscriber business unit exists in a different SunSystems installation to the publisher business unit. This means that although SunSystems requests details of the publisher business unit, in order to set up a subscription for the consumer business unit, it cannot verify those details. Therefore, you must ensure that the details are correct.

Use Enterprise Data Subscription Configuration (ECS) to configure a subscriber business unit.

If multiple business unit groups have been defined in your SunSystems installation, you must select the business unit group that your subscriber business unit belongs to.

  1. Set up the connection details. From Enterprise Data Subscription Configuration (ECS) click to browse and select a business unit group. Click OK.
  2. Set up Enterprise Data Configure Subscription. Specify a publisher business unit. As publisher business units typically exist in different installations, manually type the name of the publisher business unit. Only business units within the same installation are listed, so if the publisher business unit exists locally you will need to click to browse EDM Publishing Business Unit to select it. Click Yes to continue.
  3. The selected publisher business unit is validated. If SunSystems cannot find it in your local installation, a message appears requesting confirmation that the business unit details you provided are correct. Click Yes to confirm.
  4. The configuration details of the publisher business unit are displayed. If SunSystems cannot find the configuration details in your local installation, a request appears to create a new configuration. Click Yes to confirm. Complete the configuration so it replicates the configuration of the publisher business unit.
  5. Select a SunSystems object. The combination of publisher business unit and SunSystems object identifies the broadcast that the subscriber business unit subscribes to. Only one SunSystems object can be assigned to a subscriber business unit at a time.
Note:  A subscriber business unit may receive broadcasts from multiple publisher business units, but each broadcast must contain a different SunSystems data object. A subscriber business unit cannot receive the same SunSystems data object from two different publisher business units. If a business unit has been configured to subscribe to the same SunSystems object from multiple business units, a warning message will appear requesting that you correct any invalid subscriptions before continuing.
  6. Select a SunSystems object. You can click an object to highlight it. Or, use the Shift key and up or down arrow keys to select multiple objects. Selected objects are highlighted in blue. If you need to search for the object, type the object name in Object and click to browse.
  7. Click Assign BU to assign one or more business units to the selected SunSystems object.
Note:  In SunSystems Web client, you use the second column, Selected, to select objects for subscription. If you prefer, you can use the first column to select multiple items while holding down Ctrl. However, you must ensure that any items selected in the first column are also selected in the second column.
  8. Click Exit to complete the subscription, or click Assign Transformation to assign a transformation.
Note: Selecting Delete will delete subscriptions for all subscriber business units, for all data objects. The system will delete all configuration records related to the subscriber business units.
  9. Click Assign BU to specify which business unit will subscribe to the publication. To select all available business units, click Select All in the Assign BU dialog.
Note:  The button Select All will only select all business units in the local installation.
  10. Only one SunSystems object can be assigned at a time. This means that if you have selected multiple SunSystems objects, they will be assigned to subscriber business units in an automated batch process. After clicking Assign BU, each highlighted SunSystems object is selected in turn, and the Assign BU dialog is displayed. You must select one or more subscriber business units and click OK, before the batch process can continue. The process will cycle through all highlighted SunSystems objects.
  11. Click Exit to complete the Subscription or click Assign Transformation to assign a transformation.
