Setting up Charge Index Elements

You can define the weighting value and factor to be applied in the index by using Charge Index Elements Setup.

  1. From the Action menu from within Charge Index select Charge Index Elements.
  2. Specify this information:
Charge Index Code, Short Heading, Weighting Base and Analysis Dimension
These fields are automatically populated from the current charge index record.
    Weighting Field Value
The value to be used in the weighting calculation according to the analysis directory, and optionally analysis dimension, selected in the Weighting Base field on the charge index. Either an item code, or an analysis code in the selected analysis dimension.
    Weighting Factor
The value to be applied in the weighting calculation. That is, the apportionment ratio. All values are relative values.
  3. Save your changes.

Example

An Item Analysis Dimension is defined as a Product Class. For some or all codes in this dimension a weighting factor is entered. For example, for use with a Cost Type of Delivery Charge, and the class reflects the weight of the item. Heavier items attract a greater charge ratio than lighter ones. Where no factor is defined the default of 1 applies.
