Saving filters and creating runtime entry forms

Once you have created a new, or opened and amended an existing filter:

  1. From the File menu select Save.
  2. If no results destination for the filter has been defined, the Select Results Destination dialog is displayed.
  3. Use the radio buttons to specify whether the results of your filter should be sent to a program or a form.
    • If you require the results of your filter to be:
      • Sent to a program, use the drop down list to select the appropriate program.
        Note: The programs listed are those available for the current filter type.
      • Sent to an existing form, use the drop down list to select the appropriate form.
        Note: The forms listed are those available for the current filter type.
      • Sent to a new form.
    • If you require the results of your filter to be displayed using a particular report format, use the drop down list to select the appropriate format.
      Note:  The report formats listed are those available for the current filter type.
    1. Click Generate. The Generate New Results Form dialog is displayed.
    2. Select the data items to be displayed by highlighting them in the Data Items in Hierarchy Node dialog and clicking Add Column.
    3. If required, reorder the data items by clicking the up and down arrows next to the Selected Results Form Columns dialog.
    4. Click OK. The Generated Results Form Details dialog is displayed.
    5. Enter a Form Code to identify your form. This must be an upper case alphanumeric code up to eight characters long. The form code appears in the form dialog title bar.
    6. Enter an alphanumeric Form Description of up to 64 characters.
    7. Click OK. SunSystems Form Designer is used to generate and compile a grid form displaying the selected data items. This is saved in an SFL file.
  4. Click OK.
    Note: If any of the filters selection criteria are set to runtime entry and an entry form has not yet been created, SunSystems Form Designer is automatically used to generate and compile a runtime entry form for each business unit to which the filter is associated. Within runtime entry forms, those conditions that are set to be runtime entry are available for input into the form, whilst those that are not runtime entry are set to read-only. Runtime entry forms generated in this way should not be amended in Form Designer as any changes made will be overwritten if the filter is regenerated.
