Installing Microsoft Reporting Services

  1. Run the Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services installer.
  2. From the Installation menu, select Install SQL Server Reporting Services.
  3. When the setup is complete, select Configure Report Server.
  4. To create the Report Server database, select Change Database > Create a new report server database and click Next > Next.
  5. Specify this information:
    Service Account
    Specify the local localmachinename\SunSystemsReporting account as this user.
    Password
    Specify the password.
  6. Backup the encryption key.
  7. Specify the Web Services URL and Web Portal URL.
  8. Click these web browsers to make sure that they open without error:
    • Web Services URL
    • Web Portal URL.
    You can also access these through Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Note: If either browser opens with an error, you may need to delete encrypted content. Before doing so, make sure that SQL Server Reporting Services is not used by any other application that might use the encrypted content.
  9. Check that TCP/IP is an enabled protocol for SQL Server Network Configuration in SQL Server Configuration Manager by running the correct version of Configuration Manager for your version of SQL Server.
    For SQL Server 2029, the version is SQLServerManager15.msc.
    1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager.
    2. Expand the SQL Server Network Configuration and click Protocols for MSSQLSERVER to ensure TCP/IP is enabled.
