Exporting audit data

Audit data is viewed by exporting it to a log file.

Note: You must be a member of the Security Administrators group to export an audit, and a member of the Storage Administrators group to access the generated log file.

Audit reports can be exported from Security Console, or from Security Audit (SEA) in SunSystems.

The exported report is generated from audit records stored in the SunSystems database. Records of archived data can also be included.

The audit report is generated as a log file, and saved in the SunSystems storage Security DataAudit folder. By default, this is storage://Security/DataAudit/<audit log file>.csv Members of the Storage Administrators group have full access the audit folder.

  1. To open Audit Export in Security Console, select Audit > Audit Export. Or, select Security Audit Export (SEA) in SunSystems.
  2. Select the event types to be included in the export. By default, no event type is selected.
    To select a subset of event actions, click the folder icon to expand the list of actions associated with the event type.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select one or more users and add to Selected by clicking the Select arrow.
    The audit trail will only include events caused by the users you select.
  5. Select Include audit records from anonymous users to include audit events from users who are not listed. For example....
  6. Click Next.
  7. Specify this information:
    Event State
    Select the event state you are interested in. For example, if you are only interested in events that failed, select Failure.
    Date From / To
    Specify a date range within which the events occurred. By default, the date range includes records that have not been archived. Select Include Archived Audit Data to include archived records.
    Include Archived Audit Data
    Includes archived records within the specified date range.
    File Location
    Specify the storage location of the audit report. By default, this is storage://Security/DataAudit/
  8. Click Next.
  9. Review your information selection. Click Previous to go back and make changes. Click Finish to export the data audit.
The report is generated at the location specified.
