Add a Printer

To enable users to select a printer to print their reports from Report Designer or Report Manager, you need to add the printers you want them to use and set one as the default printer. You can set security on these printers to control which users have access to which printer. Once you have added printers, users can select them when printing reports from Report Designer and Report Manager.

From the Printers dialog, click Add. This opens the Add Printer dialog.

Specify the name of the printer and the URL that locates the printer, for example \\PRINTERS\F1-Print1. In the Location field of the Add Printer dialog, you can enter any text but this should describe where the printer is physically located, for example: 1st floor by the Fire exit.

Note: The URL must be unique and must include the name of the printer, for example http://printers/f1-print1. If you add more than one printer and attempt to specify the same URL for both, an error message is displayed informing you that you are entering a duplicate URL.

When you have entered the required details, click OK to save the change. This closes the Add Printer dialog and reveals the Printers dialog where you can add another printer or click OK to close the dialog.
