Setting up printers

From the Tools button in the Report Manager, select Printers to access the functions for managing printers on the report server.

The Printers dialog enables you to add or select and remove printers or set a specific printer to be the default.

Printing in SunSystems Reporting Services ( SRS) takes place solely from the server on which SRS is installed. The only way you can print from a client is via the printer icon that is visible when you view a report. When using that print icon to print, you can select from any of the printers you have configured on your local machine - this includes all locally attached printers and any network printers.

When running a report and selecting the Print option on the Report Parameters page, you are asking SRS to print the report for you, so you can only print to a printer that has been configured for SRS.

Using Report Manager, you can specify or restrict which users or groups have access to the printers you set up for SRS.

Note: Scheduled reports are run on the SRS server so when running this type of report, you can only select one of the SRS printers for printing the report.
