Setting up the Price Book Hierarchy

You can set up a hierarchy structure for your Price Books to determine the order in which they are searched when the price for an item is sought. The price book hierarchy is used when it is specified in a formula.

To set these up use Purchase Price Book Hierarchy (PPH) or Sales Price Book Hierarchy (SPH) as appropriate.

  1. Specify this information:
    Price Book Sequence
This number determines the position of a price book within the search sequence when the price book hierarchy is specified in a formula. When the price of an item is sought, the search for a valid price book starts with the price book with the lowest sequence number. You can define a sequence of up to ten price books.
    Price Book Definition Code
The price book to be used.
    Description and Status

These fields are automatically completed once the Price Book Definition Code field has been entered.

Note: Promotional Price Books only generate promotional lines if they are included in the price book hierarchy.
  2. Save your changes.
