Setting up Unit Labels

In order to set up conversions between an items unit of measure you must first set up unit labels for the item. That is, what other units are to be converted from and to the base unit.

  1. From the Action menu within Item Master select Unit Labels. The Item Unit Label Setup form is displayed.
  2. Specify this information:
    Item Code and Short Heading
These fields are automatically populated from the current Item Master record.
Base Item Unit and Short Heading
These fields are automatically populated from the current Item Master record.
Unit Label Code and Short Heading
The required unit label to be linked to this item. The unit label must have previously been set up using Unit of Measure Labels.
    Sequence Number
The number in the sequence when this unit label is to be used.
    European Article Number
The European Article Number for this item and unit. This is relevant if, by applying an item specific conversion, the European Article Number of the item that resulted from the calculation is different to that of the original item.
    Whole Units Inventory
Indicates whether or not the item must always be stocked in whole units.
    Whole Units Purchase
Indicates whether or not the item must always be purchased in whole units.
    Whole Units Sale
Indicates whether or not the item must always be sold in whole units.
    Conversion ID
The conversion setup to be applied. This must have already been set up using Unit Conversions. This defines what the conversion is between this unit and the default unit label.
    From Unit and To Unit

These fields are automatically populated once the Conversion ID has been entered.

Note: A unit label must be created for the default inventory unit. No conversion ID needs to be entered as no conversion takes place. However, if no default to default unit label is assigned, the conversion cannot be carried out. This would mean that items could not be bought or sold in the default unit, or any other unit.
  3. Save your changes.
