Resource edit mode

Most applications support two resource edit modes for Global Packages, Editable and Read-only. The resource edit mode determines whether users can modify existing resources on a target tenant after a Global Package deployment or upgrade.

View the resource edit mode on the package details screen. Access the package details page from the Entitled Global Packages menu in CSSP. The resource edit mode remains the same across all package versions.

Infor OS and most applications support the behavior described in this section. Some applications, including M3, use different behavior. Review the application user guide before you upgrade a package. The user guide describes the expected package upgrade behavior.

Editable

As of release 2026.10, Editable is the primary resource edit mode for Global Packages. Review the application user guide for product-specific behavior and resource-type exceptions.

These characteristics apply to editable packages:

  • When the resource edit mode is Editable, users can edit or customize resources that a Global Package deploys.
  • The first deployment of an editable Global Package creates Live resources. Live resources are active and apply to the target tenant.
  • When you upgrade an editable Global Package on the same target tenant, the deployment creates template resources by default. Template resources are not active and do not apply to the tenant.
  • You can replace a live resource with a template resource from within the tenant. CSSP does not support this action. Review the application user guide for instructions that describe how the application manages template and live resources.
  • Global Package upgrades do not modify live resources. Package upgrades create template resources and preserve existing customizations. To replace a live resource, set a template resource as the live resource from within the tenant.

Read-only

Read-only packages were released before version 2026.10. As of version 2026.10, Editable is the primary resource edit mode for Global Packages. Review the application user guide for product-specific behavior and resource-type exceptions.

These characteristics apply to Read-only packages:

  • When the resource edit mode is Read-only, users cannot edit or customize resources that a Global Package deploys.
  • When you upgrade a Read-only Global Package on the same target tenant, the system upgrades deployed resources automatically. This behavior enables Infor to deliver fixes and improvements through package updates.
