Comparing a local package

There may be cases where you want to generate a Compare report for the contents of a local package without launching a deployment to ensure that there is no risk of accidental deployment. To do this, you can compare a local package to a particular target tenant by following the steps described in this topic.

This launches a Compare report without launching a deployment, so you can safely review the Compare report before deciding whether to proceed with launching a deployment. This feature is also known as Compare Only.

  1. Sign in to CSSP.
  2. Select Configuration Management > Local Packages.
  3. From the grid, select the package you want to compare.
  4. Click Compare Package.
  5. From the Target Tenant list, select the tenant where you want to compare the package contents.
  6. Click Next to go to the Package Version Applications page.
  7. From that page, select a target organization for each application if applicable.
  8. Click Next to go to the Review and Submit page.
  9. Click Submit and then click Yes to confirm the compare generation.
  10. You are automatically taken to the Compared Local Packages screen. From there, you can see the progress of the compare report generation.
  11. Once the status of the request changes to Success, click the row for that request.
  12. Navigate to Stage 2 - Compare.
  13. Click Review Compare Report.
