Cross-region refresh
Most refreshes can be made across regions, such as a data refresh from a US tenant to an EU tenant. There are two principles to follow to comply with international data privacy laws and protect customer data:
- A cross-region refresh cannot be performed with a PRD source tenant. Instead, you must
follow a three-step process which ensures that the correct controls are in place.
- Refresh the production tenant to another tenant within the same region. That tenant is referred to as the intermediate tenant.
- After that refresh completes, perform whatever steps are required to hide or mask all the personally identifiable information (PII) on the intermediate tenant.
- Submit a refresh request where the source is the intermediate tenant, and the target is the cross-region tenant.
- For any cross-region refresh, all personally identifiable information (PII) must first be hidden or masked. You are prompted to confirm that all PII is hidden or masked before a refresh request can be placed.
