Terminology

These terms are useful for understanding the Parent-Child relationship:
Term Description
Parent company The Parent of the Child companies. The Parent company can deploy packages to the tenants of its child companies.
Child company The Child company of the Parent company.
Mandatory package A mandatory package can be deployed from the Parent company to any of its Child tenants. A local package is defined as mandatory during creation.
Optional package An optional package can only be deployed to Child companies that have opted-in to optional package deployment. A local package is defined as optional during creation.
Organization For Parent-to-Child package deployment, each application's organization on the target tenant is the same as the organization selected during package creation.
