Defective Material Notices

Defective Material Notices (DMNs) are used to communicate about the quality of materials and timely responses to material defects. The DMNs are created and published by the customer to notify about the defective materials.

You can respond to the DMN with a short-term (Containment) and long-term (Corrective) action to correct the problem. The customer may require you to complete and attach a DMN Corrective Action form. The status of the DMN is changed based on the response required by the customer. A DMN can have these status:

  • Open: If the customer requires you to send the containment or corrective action, the status of the DMN is set to Open.
Note:  The status of the DMN is changed to Closed only if the containment or corrective action plan is approved by the customer.
  • Closed: If a containment or corrective action is not required, the status of the DMN is set to Closed when the DMN is published.

DMNs can be included in metric category for performance evaluation based on the customer configuration.

The DMN functionality is fully integrated with the application. You can configure the DMN alerts on the Alert Configuration page to receive the notifications. You can also select the DMN events, on the EMC Configuration page, that must be displayed on the Event Management Console.
