Specifying the requirement information for the shipper

Use Shipper page to specify the requirement information, ship coverage, transit time, dock and purchase order number for the shipper. Some of the information is displayed based on the values specified on the Shipper page.

  1. Select Shipments > Create Shipper. The Shipper page is displayed.
  2. Specify the required information.
  3. Click Continue. The Requirements page is displayed.
  4. Review this information:
    Facility
    The name of the location from where the demand for the parts is raised.
    Ship To
    The location to which the parts are shipped.
    Supplier
    The name of the supplier.
    Ship From
    The location from where the parts are shipped.
    Shipper Number
    The code of the shipper.
  5. Specify this information:
    Dock
    The code of the dock to which the shipment is sent.
    Test or Production
    The option to indicate the type of the requirement. Possible values:
    • Test: This value indicates the test requirement, as defined by the customer. Typical test requirements include a trial run with no production or shipment of the part.
    • Production: This value indicates that the part must be produced and shipped.
    Requirement View
    The number of days within which requirements must be due to display on the Add Line Item page. The Requirement view must be larger than the Ship Coverage so you can view demand due within a longer period of time than the demand you plan to ship against.
    Ship Coverage
    The number of days within which demand must be due for the demand to be included in the recommended ship quantity. Only demand that is due within the Ship Coverage displays in the Parts to Ship table on the Requirement Filter page. The parts selected in the Parts to Ship table appears as line items on the shipper. On the Add Line Item page, the ship quantity for the selected part defaults based on the Ship Coverage. The Ship Coverage must be less than the Requirement View.
    Include Weekends
    If this check box is selected, the Ship Coverage considers the weekend days. For example, if the current day is a Friday and the Ship Coverage is specified as 2, the requirements for Friday and Saturday are included.
    Transit Time
    The time required for the shipment to reach the Ship To location.
    Note:  This value is defaulted from the Ship From page.
    PO Number
    The purchase order (PO) number associated with the requirements.
    Note: You can set the filter to search for the specified part.
  6. Click Search.
  7. Review the information in the Part List section:
    Part
    The customer defined code of the part.
    Part indicators
    The indicators assigned to the parts and associated with a PO are displayed in the Legend section.
    Description
    The description of the part.
    PO Number
    The purchase order number associated with the requirement.
    Note: The line level reference is also displayed along with the purchase order number.
    Required Date
    The date on which the parts are required.
    Suggested Ship Qty
    The quantity of the part shipped.
    Note: The same part for different DPO is segregated into different lines.
    Procurement method
    The method used to publish the demand. Possible values:
    • Discrete PO
    • SMI
    • Shipping Schedule
    • Material Release
    • Kanban
  8. Select the Part and specify the corresponding Suggested Ship Quantity for which the shipper must be created.
  9. Click Create Shipper.
