Shipper

Shippers are documents from which Advance Ship Notices are generated and sent to a customer. When requirements are added to the shippers, the demand for which the shipper is created, is fulfilled.

Note:  After the shipper is published, you can only view the attachments, you cannot add or delete files from a shipper.

Shipper Creation

When the shipper is created, the header information is saved as the default data and this data is defaulted when the next shipper is created. However, you can modify this data.

For example, if the customer requires container information on the Advance Ship Notices, a shipper is created for a specific part, the containers selected are saved as the default packaging data which is defaulted the next time the part is shipped. However, you can update the default packaging data on the Packaging Maintenance page.

When a shipper is created for a specific part, the selected Ship From is saved as the default value for that part. When a shipper is created at a later date, the part is shipped only if the shipper is created for the default Ship From. The default Ship From data can be modified using the Ship From page.

Line Items

Parts are added to a shipper as shipper line items. Depending on the customer configuration, the line items can be based on the part, the part and PO combination, or the part and pull signal combination.

Shipper Status

When a shipper status is set to Staged, the shipper is automatically saved. When the shipper status set to Published, the shipper is sent as an Advance Ship Notice (ASN). The shipper is status is set to In-Transit until the shipper is received by the customer.

If the customer does not send a receipt for the shipment, the shipment is cancelled and the customer is alerted by an ASN cancellation, which reverts the ASN to a staged shipper.

Block ASN/Shipment

When creating a shipper, you can modify the Delivery Date and the Quantity specified by the customer on the purchase order. If the Delivery Date and the Quantity specified, do not meet the customer defined tolerances, either the shipper cannot be published or a warning message is displayed, based on the customer configuration.

Block ASN Serialized Parts

You can specify the lot and serial numbers for a part when creating a shipper. You can also import the serial numbers using an XML or csv file. If the total count of serial numbers specified for the shipper line item do not match the shipped quantity of the part, the shipper cannot be published or a warning message is displayed based on the customer configuration.

Note:  The lot and serial numbers can be specified only if the part is defined as lot controlled and serialized.
