Characteristic sets

A characteristic set is a group of customer defined preferences that determine the use of the application by the customer and the supplier for various transactions. The characteristic set can be used to enable functionality, and manage business processes.

The characteristic set must be defined for each customer that uses the application. This characteristic set is used as the default for all the customer users. You can define the characteristic set specific to a facility related to the customer.

Note:  If the characteristic set is not defined for a facility, the characteristic set assigned to the customer is used for the facility.

Flex fields can also be added to the characteristic sets. A flex field is a customer defined data field related either to schedules or to requirements on the Material Release or Shipping Schedule. The flex field is used to manage the data that the customer requires to be included with the business process document.
