Defective material notices

Defective Material Notices (DMNs) are an efficient means of communication to ensure the quality materials and timely responses with regards to defective material. DMNs are used to notify the suppliers of defective material. You can also request the suppliers to respond with a short term (containment) and a long term (corrective) action to rectify the problem. You can manually create DMNs in the application or send (importing) DMN files.

You can accept or reject the containment or the corrective action provided by the supplier. The status of the DMN is set to Closed when:

  • The DMN is published and an action is not required from the supplier.
  • The containment action provided by the supplier is accepted for the published DMN.
  • The corrective action provided by the supplier is accepted for the published DMN.

The DMN functionality is fully integrated with the application. Users can select to receive DMN alerts and to view DMN events on the Event Management Console. DMNs are included in the Metric module and can optionally be included in metric performance evaluations.
