Advance Ship Notices
Advance Ship Notices (ASNs) are electronic documents that provide detailed information about a pending delivery. A supplier sends an ASN to notify about the shipment details. The ASNs can include the Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) information. The SCAC is the carrier code defined by the National Motor Freight Association.
If a shipment is cancelled after an ASN is received, the supplier sends a cancellation ASN to notify the same. However, if an ASN is cancelled, the corresponding shipper is not cancelled.
Block ASN Serialized Parts
You can use the Block ASN SerializedParts parameter on the Customer Profile page to restrict or alert the supplier from publishing the Advance Ship Notice (ASN), based on the value specified in this parameter
When this parameter is enabled, and the total count of the serial numbers for a part specified on the shipper document do not match with the shipped quantity, the application restricts the supplier from publishing the ASN or a warning message is displayed when the shipper is validated.
Block ASN/Shipment
You can use the Block ASN/Shipment parameter on the Customer Profile page to restrict or alert the supplier from publishing the Advance Ship Notice (ASN). You can define the tolerances for delivery date and quantity. If delivery date and quantity specified by the supplier when creating a shipper against the purchase order (PO), do not meet the defined tolerances, the application restricts the supplier from publishing the ASN or a warning message is displayed when the shipper is validated, based on the value specified in this parameter.
