Supplier managed inventory
The Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI) is a supplier-driven replenishment and planning process. The SMI functionality enables you to track the inventory level for the parts and plan the shipments, to maintain the customer defined maximum and minimum inventory level.
For a SMI part, the quantity of the part to be shipped is calculated based on the inventory level and not using the corresponding release or specific purchase order.
SMI Console
The SMI console contains a visual representation of the inventory level as compared to the maximum and minimum quantities. It is color-coded to indicate under and over inventory status as well as other part information. The legend, located at the bottom of the page, contains the color definitions. Hovering the mouse over areas displays information labels that help you understand the console.
You can track the inventory and review the suggested shipment details through the SMI details.
Part Usage
The SMI Part Usage tracks and displays averages that are useful for planning. The history of the parts shipped is displayed on the Part Usage page. This information is used for monitoring the part inventory.
Part Summary
The SMI Part Summary contains the part shipping summary, including recent shipment information such as the last delivery quantity and date and the cumulative quantity.
The SMI functionality is integrated with the application. You can configure the SMI alerts on the Alert Configuration page to receive the notifications. You can also select the SMI events, on the EMC Configuration page, that must be displayed on the Event Management Console.
