Planning hierarchies overview

Planning hierarchy is a classification of items or locations, based on which the plan data can be reported. Each cycle requires at least one planning hierarchy for both the item and location.

The hierarchies are based on these code lists:

  • Item hierarchy: A classification of items as defined in the application.
  • Location hierarchy: A classification of locations as defined in the application.

Each level defined in the planning hierarchy represents the various levels of aggregation, which is linked to the corresponding levels of additional details, for which the plan data can be generated.

Use the Planning Hierarchies page to define the planning hierarchies, and then specify this information on the Cycles page:

  • A cycle's default item hierarchy and default location hierarchy for the implemented modules.
  • Additional planning hierarchies for a cycle, on the Additional Hierarchies tab. In addition to the default planning hierarchies, these hierarchies can be used in the worksheet reports.
