Creating calculation rules
To create a calculation rule:
- Select Configuration > Common > Measures > Calculation Rules.
- Click New, and select Simple Rule or Expert Rule.
-
Specify this information:
- Measure
- Specify the measure code on which the calculation is based.
- Module
- Specify the module in which the calculation rule is defined. You can use multiple calculation rules for a module.
- Calculation Sequence
- Specify an integer value that indicates the order of calculation for the rules, wherein the first value is 1, followed by the subsequent calculations . This value must be unique to each module. The calculation sequence is used to ensure that calculation dependencies from other measures are correctly established prior to being used.
- Tags
- The tag linked to a calculation rule. Select from a list of pre-defined tags displayed in the Tags window. You can link one or more tags to a calculation rule. This option is used to group common elements, which can be linked to entities such as measures or worksheets.
- Calculation Scope
-
The level of the dimension hierarchies at which the calculation is performed before being aggregated or prorated to other levels, if applicable. Specify one of these values:
- All Elements: The calculation is performed at all levels of the dimension hierarchy.
- All Base Elements: The calculation is performed at the base (lowest) levels of the dimension hierarchy and aggregated to other levels.
- All Consolidated Elements: Base data is aggregated to consolidated levels of the dimension hierarchy where the calculation is performed.
-
Based on your selection, specific options are available. If you
select
Simple Rule, specify this
information:
- Left Measure
- Specify the first measure that is used in this calculation.
- Operator
- Specify the type of calculation to be performed
- Right Measure
- Specify the second measure that is used in this calculation.
Note: If you select Expert Rule, specify the entire calculation rule in the text box. Optionally, provide a description explaining the reasons for the rule and the required variables.
- To save the new calculation rule, click Submit. Otherwise, click Cancel.
